hello i need to know as a basic rule what is legal if an image has no information licence ... the licence are ok i can understand them

ex.if its an image in a gallery can we modify for commercial or non commercia use ?

what if the image is totally without explanations

I'd say always ask the author/ site if you are not sure. Even if it feels uncomfortable, it's better to ask beforehand than having troubles later.

For non-commercial use, if nothing is stated, crediting the author can be a nice move, however it won't save you from any future claims or copyright infringements. For commercial use I'd never use images with vague usability.


I'd say it is better to use images that are surely free to use, in this way no surprises will hit you later. Or, if you can afford, buy the license.

so in case that the author finds you after a while if you delete the image will  that be ok ?
just wondering i also prefer the free icons but i have seen in one site register as free and at another as free with backlink

Yes, I think in most cases they will let you be after you deleted the copyrighted image. I mean, if you didn't cause too much financial loss they will not step into a lawsuit. It would cost them more money to sue a poor individual than what they could earn from it. It is just risky if you are super famous, like Google or Facebook or something. Smile

Ethically it is another question. You wouldn't like your images used without $ or credits either. Smile 



If you found a site that offers an image without any obligation, then use it. You can refer to it later if someone complains. Smile
